Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Oilive (“the Service”, “we”, “us”). Oilive is currently an early-stage project with legal entity formation pending; a registered operator name, address and company / VAT number will be published on this page once the entity is formed. Until then, contact hello@oilive.app for any questions about the Service.

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding agreement between you and us.

2. The Service

Oilive is an editorial olive oil discovery platform. It offers a curated catalog, a taste-profiling quiz, barcode and image scanning, personalised recommendations, a wishlist, pantry, tasting log, and links to third-party merchants. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features at any time without liability.

3. Your account

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity on your account.
  • You must be at least 16 years old (or the digital-consent age in your country) to create an account.
  • One account per person. We may suspend accounts that breach these Terms.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to access other users’ data, accounts, or admin areas.
  • Submit false, misleading, or infringing product or merchant information.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or mass-extract content for commercial use.
  • Probe, attack, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.

5. No medical or nutritional advice

Oilive provides editorial information, taste matches, and source-labeled polyphenol data. Oilive is not medical, nutritional, or professional advice. Polyphenol values vary by harvest, storage, and testing method. Always verify health-related information with qualified professionals before relying on it. Do not use Oilive to make medical decisions.

6. Editorial content and recommendations

Curator notes, match scores, “why it matched” explanations, and recommendations are editorial opinions and algorithmic outputs. They are not guarantees of taste, suitability, or fitness for a particular purpose. Polyphenol and producer data is labelled by source (lab-certified, producer-declared, or estimated). We do not guarantee the accuracy of producer-declared or estimated values.

7. Pricing, availability, and merchants

Prices, stock, shipping, and product availability shown on Oilive are indicative and may differ from the merchant’s actual offer at the moment you click through. Oilive is not the seller. Your contract is with the third-party merchant, whose terms and consumer-protection obligations apply to the purchase. We are not responsible for the quality, delivery, returns, refunds, or after-sales support of products sold by third-party merchants.

8. Affiliate disclosure

Some merchant links are affiliate links. If you buy through one of them, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate revenue never determines editorial rankings. We surface affiliate status near merchant links and on individual product pages.

9. User-submitted content and corrections

When you submit a missing bottle, a correction, a tasting log, or any other content, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to use, store, modify, and display that content as part of the Service. You retain ownership and can request removal of your submission by writing to corrections@oilive.app. We may edit, refuse, or remove submissions at our discretion.

10. Intellectual property

All Oilive content — editorial notes, product photography we host, UI design, the match algorithm, and the catalog as a whole — is owned by Oilive or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not reproduce, redistribute, or build derivative commercial products from the Service without our prior written consent.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, abuse the Service, or pose a risk to other users. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (IP, liability, governing law) survive termination.

12. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (but not limited to) merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Statutory consumer rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law are not affected.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Oilive will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, or goodwill arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to EUR 100. This clause does not affect any non-excludable consumer-protection rights in your jurisdiction.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be flagged in-app and the “last updated” date above will move. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the courts of the competent courts of Paris, France, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws give you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence — that right is preserved.
